State pages list the wage areas and pay tables available for that state. If DCPAS has not published a 2026 table for a state yet, the link below goes to the latest available archive year instead. Each state page also links those pay tables back to major federal sites such as depots, arsenals, air bases, and VA medical centers.

How to read an FWS page

Each row is a grade and each column is one of the 5 hourly steps published by DCPAS.

The annual figures in the calculator are estimates based on 2,087 work hours.

Common Federal Wage System questions

  • What is the Federal Wage System?
The Federal Wage System is the hourly pay system for federal trade, craft, and labor jobs. Instead of the salaried General Schedule, it uses local hourly tables for workers, leaders, and supervisors.
  • What do WG, WL, and WS mean?
WG covers workers, WL covers leaders, and WS covers supervisors. Each table has 5 steps and is published as an hourly rate.
  • How do I find the right FWS schedule?
Start with your state, then open the wage area that covers the county where your official duty station sits. If you are not sure, use the FWS calculator to narrow it down.
