Common SES calculator questions

  • What does this SES calculator show?
It shows the published 2026 SES minimum, the two SES maximums, and the Executive Schedule salary levels. Use it to compare the main senior federal pay ceilings without opening every table separately.
  • Does SES pay use locality adjustments?
No. SES pay does not use locality percentages or GS-style steps. Agencies set executive pay inside the annual SES range, subject to the applicable statutory caps.
  • Why compare SES with GS-15 Step 10?
GS-15 Step 10 is the top regular General Schedule rate. It is a useful benchmark when comparing senior specialist and supervisory GS positions with SES jobs. For 2026, GS-15 Step 10 starts from $164,301 before locality pay is added and capped.
